Illinois State Child & Adult Food Program
Our menus were designed by nutritionists to meet children’s nutritional needs.
Family Style Meals
Lunch is served family-style with a teacher and children at each table. As part of the learning experience, children set the tables for lunch. During lunch, children and teachers converse about their special interests, the food they are eating, or daily activities. Adults serve as models for social behavior. Children learn proper etiquette and manners.
Breakfast, lunch, and a snack are provided for children in the full-day program. Nutrition education is incorporated in the daily activities.
Children are taught proper hand washing techniques in order to eliminate or reduce the spread of germs. Learning basic health facts and hand washing techniques are skills that children will need for life.
